Dick Bolt

Dick Bolt graduated from the Groningen Conservatory with a degree in (bass) trombone and conducting, and gained extensive experience in both fields while still a student.

In 1988, he became the principal bass trombonist of Het Gelders Orkest (now Phion). In addition, he was a member of Ravelli Brass, and he still plays in the Dutch Trombone Quartet; he has also served as a substitute with all the professional symphony orchestras in the Netherlands. Just last season, he performed with the North Netherlands Orchestra, the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra.

In addition to his job as a bass trombonist, Dick is the conductor of the OBK wind ensemble in Bennekom and the Flos Campi symphony orchestra in Nijmegen. He also serves as a faculty member teaching his major at his former school, the Prince Claus Conservatory in Groningen.

He served briefly as conductor of the Gelderland Brass Band, and during his studies he enjoyed success as conductor of the Groningen Provincial Brass Band, among other ensembles, leading the band to victory in the KNFM Top Competition at the time.

He is the honorary conductor of the St. Cecilia brass band in Millingen aan de Rijn, with which he was associated for 33 years. He also regularly serves as a judge at wind music competitions throughout the country.
