CMV Beatrix Doezum

“CMV Beatrix: An indispensable part of life for the residents of Doezum for over 80 years”

The Christian music association Beatrix was founded on June 15, 1945. The association has had its ups and downs. In the late 1950s, there was a significant drop in membership. There was even talk of dissolving the association. In the early 1960s, however, it was decided to continue.

Our club currently has over 40 members, we’ve seen a nice increase in youth membership, and we can truly call ourselves a thriving club. In 2014, the club was promoted to the2nd division. In 2022, CMV Beatrix became world champion at the WMC in Kerkrade, and since April 11, 2026, we’ve held the title of Dutch2nd Division Champion.

Ido Gerard Kempenaar has been leading our association since 2010. In addition to his role with our association, he serves as conductor of the Joost Wiersma Fanfare in Jistrum and has been chief conductor of the Royal Military Police Orchestra since December 2024.

As an association, we’re always on the move; we’re on the move to collaborate on a competition or concert, on the move to work together on policies and our vision within the association, on the move to offer our students opportunities for music lessons and development, and on the move within our own village.

The association is supported by the village. It organizes annual concerts, provides musical accompaniment for church services, and performs at wedding anniversaries or other special occasions. We are pleased to contribute to events within the village. And on Christmas morning, the village is filled with the sound of gentle Christmas music starting at 6:00 a.m. Additionally, a music project is organized every year at the village’s elementary school to introduce students to music. Furthermore, the association participates annually in competitions and the Dutch Championships.

In short, we’re always on the go to make and keep our association thriving and to serve as a unifying force both within and outside the village.
